Huskies begin post-season with semifinal series against Calgary

Huskie Athletics

SASKATOON - The No. 3-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies will begin their quest for the 2016 Canada West Championship with a semifinal series against the University of Calgary Dinos this weekend at Rutherford Rink.

The Huskies earned a first round bye thanks to their first place finish in the Canada West regular season after a 22-6-0 record. Saskatchewan matched a school record in wins with 22 this season.

Calgary earned their trip to Saskatoon by taking down the Manitoba Bisons 2-1 in a best-of-three quarter-final series last weekend in Winnipeg. The Dinos found themselves in a hole after dropping the series opener 3-1. On Saturday night, Calgary fought to get ahead 2-0 and held on for the 2-1 victory to force a decisive Game 3. Calgary broke out for six goals in a 6-1 rout of the Bisons on Sunday to take the series 2-1.
