TRU head coach Scott Clark:
On the fourth quarter:
"We had a little bit of toughness and played with a sense of urgency. It would nice if you could play that way in the first three quarters. In the fourth, we did that a little bit."
Commenting on Volodymyr Iegorovs 6 points in the first half 20 in the second:
"We have wanted him to be aggressive and I thought he was. He made some plays. They kind of take you out of things because they (Winnipeg) play so fast and athletic. He is a guy with his skill level and his size, he is able to get bodies on guys and make plays. He is able to do that."
On Bye Week:
"This comes at a good time for us. We have had some sickness .Joe Davis (2nd year, forward, Kamloops, BC) didn't practice this last week, he needs to get healthy. Trent (Monkman, 1st year guard, Smithers, BC) has had some illness. He has to get better. We are so young. It is really hard mentally on the first and second year guys. Having a weekend to catch their breath and be regular students will be good."
Winnipeg head coachMike Raimbault (7th season):
"It was a hard fought game. Unfortunately we didn't have a better result in the fourth. TRU played great. We have a lot to learn from it."
Next week: Both teams have a bye. TRU returns to action the following weekend (Jan 27-28) when they head to Abbotsford, BC to battle the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. While the Wesmen will spend that weekend in Edmonton, Alberta battling the MacEwan University Griffins.
Next home action for TRU will be Friday, February 3, 2017 when the University of Calgary Dinos pay a visit to Kamloops. All those games can be seen on www.CanadawestTV on a pay-per-view basis.
OF NOTE: The TRU Bookstore/McDonalds "Leader of the Pack" player of the game was: Monkman who had nine points and two rebounds along with three assists in24 minutes.
