Men's Hockey: Bragging rights, playoff positioning in the balance

- The third installment of the Crowchild Classic Saddledome game will go Thursday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames.
- Mount Royal won the first two meetings with the Dinos this season in early October.
- The Dinos have won six of their last nine games and have overtaken the Cougars for second place in the conference.
The Cougars are 4-6 lifetime against the Dinos. Two of their
four wins came earlier this season; the other two wins have come on
Saddledome ice, with the Cougars winning in both 2013 and 2014.
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (14-8-0, 3rd in Canada West)
The Cougars have a tough schedule coming home. In their final six games they will play the top two teams; Alberta and Calgary, as well as the fifth place Manitoba Bisons who are only six points back of the Cougars.
Cody Cartier fell back in the scoring lead this weekend after Foster and Hickmott had big weekends for Alberta. Cartier has 31 points (11G, 20A), four points off the league lead.
Dalyn Flette returned to action on Saturday night after missing
the seven previous. Flette is 1-0 at the Saddledome winning last
year’s game 4-3 in overtime.
CALGARY DINOS (15-7-0, 2nd in Canada West)
The Dinos have a favourable schedule heading into the final weeks of the season. After Mount Royal they will play the seventh and eighth place teams from Regina and Lethbridge.
Elgin Pearce is in sixth place in Canada West scoring and leads his team with 24 points (13G, 11A) this season.
Kris Lazaruk leads all Canada West goaltenders in every major category. He is sporting a .934 save percentage, a GAA of 1.76 and has 3 shutouts.
Women's Hockey: Cougars looking for signature win versus favoured Dinos

- Thursday night will be the third annual Crowchild Classic Saddledome game between the Cougars and Dinos. The Dinos won the first two games in 2013 and 2014.
- The Cougars have dropped four in a row since defeating Regina 2-0 back on Nov. 22.
- Calgary has been on fire of late, winning 7 of their last 8 games and scoring 26 goals in the process.
Calgary has dominated the lifetime matchup between the two
sides, going 9-1 over ten games. The Cougars’ only win came
this season in a remarkable shootout victory at home.
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (1-1-13-3, 8th in Canada West)
The Cougars have had a tough season, but their crowning achievement was defeating the Dinos on Oct. 4. Mount Royal will look to draw from that win looking ahead to this weekend’s games.
Sarah Weninger (2G, 5A) and Reanna Arnold (1G, 6A) lead the Cougars in scoring with 7 points respectively.
Delany Edwards and Shawni Rodeback are tied for
14th in rookie scoring. Each player has three points on
CALGARY DINOS (10-1-3-4, 1st in Canada West)
Dinos’ Captain Iya Gavrilova is running away with the conference scoring lead. She currently has 29 points (15G, 14A) in 18 games played.
The Dinos have three of the top four scorers in the league. Gavriolva is first with 29 points, Wickenheiser is tied for second with 19 and Janelle Parent is tied for fourth with 16 points on the year.
Hayley Dowling has played 15 of 18 games for the Dinos. The second year goaltender has a 1.73 GAA and a .928 save percentage.
