SHARMAN'S THREE POINTS BURN THE COUGARS

Calgary – The Cougars dropped their third straight at home on Friday night, losing 4-1 to the Manitoba Bisons . Alanna Sharman had two goals and an assist in the Bison's win. Cougar's captain Tanika Dawson was able to spoil the shutout at the 16:37 mark of the third.

After a quiet first period the Bisons turned up their play. Alanna Sharman grabbed the puck in the corner and fed Captain Maggie-Litchfield Medd who was wide open in the slot. Litchfield-Medd buried her first of two points on the night to open up a 1-0 lead.

Twenty-one seconds later, Sharman once again picked up the puck in the corner but this time powered her way in front of the net. Unchecked, she out-waited goaltender Jess Ross and wrapped it around the goaltender's outstretched pad on the far side.

Tasmine Hemingway added a power play goal at 11:50 from Caitlin Fyten and Cassandra Taylor to put Manitoba up three.

A little over a minute into the third, Alanna Sharman added her second of the night on a weak shot from the top of the circle. That spelled the end of Ross' night, getting pulled in favour of rookie Emma Pincott.

Tanika Dawson scored with just under four minutes to play to break up Rachel Dyck's shutout bid.

The Cougars and Bisons are slated to play their second game of the weekend tomorrow afternoon at 3pm at Flames Community Arenas.
