Lindsey Post recorded her league-leading third shutout of the season to help the No. 5 ranked University of Alberta Pandas to a 4-0 win over the No. 8 ranked University of Saskatchewan Friday night at Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.
With the win Alberta, improves to 4-0-1 in the young Canada West women's hockey season, while Saskatchewan drops to 2-3.
Post turned aside all 31 Huskie shots to secure her fourth win of the season.
All four Panda goals were scored by different players with Kirsten Toth and Jessie Olfert each tallying for the first time in 2014-15.
Toth opened the scoring at 9:39 of the first period with a hard slap shot from the point that deflected off of two Huskie defenders in front of goaltender Cassidy Hendricks before tucking just underneath the crossbar.
Apart from the loan Alberta goal, the two top 10 rivals battled evenly for the first two periods. The Pandas would break away from Saskatchewan early in the third period with a pair of quick goals.
Alison Campbell finished off a Jessica Kampjes one-time pass with a shot through the five-hole from the slot just 27 seconds into the final period.
Less than two minutes later with Alberta on the power-play, Olfert scored her first of the year. A low slap shot from the point again ricocheted off a Huskie defender just past an outstretched Hendricks at 3:10.
Lindsey Cunningham added the fourth goal directing in a pass from Ashley Morin who streaked down the boards before sending a pass in front for Cunningham at 12:19.
The two teams meet again Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Rutherford Rink.
