Calgary – The Manitoba Bisons handed Mount Royal their fourth straight loss on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Cougars 3-1 at Flames Community Arenas.
Alanna Sharman (2) and Alanna Serhan scored for Manitoba. Janessa Jenkins added the only goal fro MRU.
Rookie Emma Pincott got the start in goal for the Cougars. Pincott came in, in relief on Friday night making three saves. Pincott was also in goal for the Cougar's only win over the Calgary Dinos back on Oct. 4.
The Cougars opened the scoring in the second period when Janessa Jenkins broke in one-on-one with the defender. Using the defenceman as a screen, Jenkins let go a laser just over the pad of Rachel Dyck to put MRU up one.
The Bisons were quick to answer on the power play. With 1:01 left in the second, Alanna Sharman scored her third goal of the weekend on power move to the front of the net. The puck careened off a Cougar's skate and between Pincott's legs to even the game at one.
Early in the third, Alanna Serhan put the Bisons in front on a goalmouth scramble. Emma Pincott was able to stop the first three shots but the Cougars defenders were unable to clear the front of the net. Serhan finally scored on her fourth attempt to put Manitoba up 2-1.
Sharman put her team-leading sixth goal of the season into the empty net to secure the Cougar's 3-1 victory.
Mount Royal will begin a home and home series on the road against the Alberta Pandas beginning on Friday night.
Manitoba will host Lethbridge next weekend for a two game series. Puck drop for the first game is slated for Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
