CALGARY – Lauryn Keen and Erica Rieder scored for the Bisons to secure the sweep over Mount Royal on Saturday afternoon. Erin McLean scored her first goal as Cougar in the loss.

After a scoreless first period, it was Mount Royal who opened the scoring just 1:34 into the second. After a mad scramble in front of the Manitoba goal the puck squirted out to the point where Erin McLean was waiting for it. McLean let a wrist shot through the crowd that beat Amanda Schubert over the right shoulder.

The Bisons got it back just five minutes later. Lauryn Keen came off the half wall and let go a shot on Cougars' rookie goaltender Zoe DeBeauville. DeBeauville got a piece of it but the puck trickled just behind her and into the goal to knot the game at one.

Manitoba took the lead back early in the third period when Erica Rieder potted her second goal of the weekend. Rieder took a shot from a sharp angle and it squeaked through DeBeauville for the game winner.

The Bisons improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 0-4 with the loss.

Manitoba will head back to Winnipeg for their home opener on Thursday night. They will host the Regina Cougars at Wayne Fleming Arena at 7pm.

Mount Royal also begins their third week of action on a Thursday night when they welcome the Calgary Dinos to Flames Community Arenas. The start time for this Crowchild Classic match goes at 7pm.
