SASKATOON – University of Saskatchewan netminder Cassidy Hendricks made 18 saves en route to a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting University of Calgary Dinos Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.
With the win Saskatchewan completes the weekend sweep in the series, improving to 9-3-0. Calgary drops to 1-8-3 with the loss. A night earlier, the Huskies won 5-3.
Hendricks, who leads the Canada West in saves with 209 in the women's hockey season, made seven in the first, eight in the second and three in the third. Not to be outdone, goaltender Kelsey Roberts stopped 43 in the loss for the Dinos – including 21 in the first period
Rachel Johnson opened the scoring at 9:07 in the second period on a scramble in front of the net. The puck was able to bounce over Calgary netminder Kelsey Roberts.
Kori Herner added an empty netter at 19:59.
The Huskies remain at home to host the Manitoba Bisons next week, while the Dinos travel to Regina to meet the Cougars.
