REGINA - The University of Regina women's hockey team was shutout by the Alberta Pandas on Saturday afternoon, as the Pandas completed the weekend sweep with a 2-0 win at The Co-operators Centre.

Dayna Owen earned the shutout in goal for Alberta, stopping 27 shots as the Pandas jump ahead of Manitoba into second place in Canada West.

Cayle Dillon scored in the first period and Alex Poznikoff netted her second of the weekend in the middle frame to give the Pandas some insurance.

Dillon's first of the season was a quick wrist shot that beat Jane Kish low to the glove side. Hannah Fouillard and Kennedy Ganser assisted on the goal, as Alberta outshot the Cougars 11-3 in the opening frame.

Poznikoff scored her ninth of the season midway through the second, shovelling it past Kish after Autumn McDougall's initial shot was stopped. Kelsey Tangjerd collected her first assist of the season on Poznikoff's third point of the weekend.

After just 12 shots in the first two periods the Cougars sent 15 efforts towards Owen in the third period, but the second-year goaltender was sharp and controlled her rebounds to keep Regina off the board.

Kish made 29 saves as the Cougars drop their third-straight game, falling to fifth place in Canada West. Regina (9-9-2-0) will take to the road next weekend as they visit Mount Royal University.
