SASKATOON – University of Regina goaltender Jane Kish made 29 saves to the lead the Cougars to a 1-0 shutout win over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.
Kish made six stops in the first, another 15 in the second and eight in the third for the victory. It marks her third shutout of the 2016-17 Canada West women's hockey season.
Cassidy Hendricks made 20 saves in the loss at the other end of the ice for Saskatchewan.
The lone goal in the game was scored late in the first period on a five-on-three power play. Lilla Carpenter-Boesch picked up a rebound at 18:37 and slipped it through Hendricks' five-hole.
With the win Regina improves to 13-10-1 in the standings and salvages a weekend split in the home-and-home series between the provincial rivals. A night earlier, the Huskies won 2-1 in overtime in Regina. Saskatchewan drops to 13-8-3.
The Huskies travel to meet the Manitoba Bisons next weekend, while the Cougars return home to host the UBC Thunderbirds.
