Elie Gindo was the leading offensive threat for the Spartans this weekend as Trinity Western earned four home points with a 0-0 tie against Thompson Rivers on Friday night, and a 2-1 victory over UBC Okanagan on Saturday night.
The fifth-year business student from Langley, B.C. had eight shots on the weekend to lead the Spartans. He had four shots in Friday’s tie and another four shots in Saturday’s win. Gindo got on the scoresheet for the first time in the 2017 season with a dramatic game winning goal in the 89th minute of Saturday’s match up with UBC Okanagan. The victory kept the Spartans in a three-way tie for second spot in the Pacific Division of Canada West with a record of 2-1-3
The Spartans will finish their home stand this weekend, when they host the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday and the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday. Both matches will be played at TWU’s Chase Office Field.
