EDMONTON – Today, Mount Royal University officially becomes the 15th member of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA).
At a vote held in Saskatoon this past May, the Calgary-based Cougars were granted a probationary membership. Pending approval by Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), MRU will begin Canada West competition in men’s and women’s basketball, hockey, soccer and volleyball during the 2012-13 season.
The University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus in Kelowna, B.C., granted probationary membership status effective last September, is set to compete in Canada West basketball and volleyball this season after receiving CIS approval this summer.
