Seven Canada West coaches named to Team West staff for East West Bowl
Manitoba Bisons head coach Brian Dobie along with seven Canada West coaches will be patrolling the sidelines at the upcoming East West Bowl in Montreal, as announced Friday.
Dobie and company will lead Team West against Team East in the annual showcase for Canadian Interuniversity Sport football players heading into their Canadian Football League Draft season. The game is slated for Saturday, May 9th at McGill’s Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal.
Joining Dobie, who is coming off a Hardy Cup title in 2014, with Team West is a pair of fellow conference head coaches, as Calgary’s Wayne Harris, and Alberta’s Chris Morris will handle defensive coordinator, and offensive line coaching duties respectively.
Also serving in a coordinator role for Team West from the conference will be UBC’s Paul Orazietti, who will handle special teams duties.
Rounding out Dobie’s Canada West connections are Dwayne Masson from Regina (running backs), Jason Sulz from Alberta (receivers), along with Saskatchewan’s Scott Flory and Sheldon Neald out of Regina, who will team up with Morris to handle the offensive line.
The coaching staff will lead a West team that features a total of 18 Canada West players, along with players from a number of Ontario University Athletics schools.
The players will be looking to impress CFL scouts over the course of the team’s week-long preparation leading up to the game, which includes a combine for participating players (May 6), and also features a CFL Free Agency Camp for players eligible to attend 2015 CFL training camps and not participating in the East West Bowl.
