SASKATOON – With a 78-50 win over the visiting Mount Royal University Cougars Saturday night on Ron & Jane Graham Court at the PAC, the No. 9 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies completed the weekend sweep and extended its win streak to nine games.
With the win, the Huskies are 12-4 in the Canada West women's basketball season and haven't lost since December 2 in Regina. Mount Royal falls to 3-13. A night earlier, the Huskies won 84-44.
With a similar story to Friday night's game, the Huskies jumped out to a large lead in the opening quarter and never looked back. Saskatchewan led 26-7 after the first quarter, 43-23 at halftime and 64-33 entering the final 10 minutes.
Second-year point guard Sabine Dukate led the Huskies with a game-high 23 points. Megan Lindquist added another 16 points, while Megan Ahlstrom scored 15. Lindquist led the Huskies on the boards, just missing the double-double by one with nine rebounds.
Angela Driscoll led the Cougars on the night scoring 13 points, while Erin Kehrig tallied another 10. Becky Nash led Mount Royal with seven rebounds.
The Cougars finished the night shooting at 38%, while Saskatchewan shot at 40%. The Huskies also won the battle on the boards outrebounding the Cougars 38-28.
The Huskies remain at home to host the Alberta Pandas next weekend, while Mount Royal returns home to host the Trinity Western Spartans.
