EDMONTON – Five Canada West women's hockey players were named to the U SPORTS Women’s Hockey All-Star roster Thursday, as the squad gets set to play at Hockey Canada's Summer Showcase in Calgary August 2-11 at WinSport.

Forwards Kaitlin Willoughby (Saskatchewan), Alanna Sharman (Manitoba), and Alex Poznikoff (Alberta) will be joined by defencemen Celine Tardiff (UBC) and Cayle Dillon (Alberta).

This summer marks the third consecutive appearance for a U SPORTS team at the Summer Showcase, as the U SPORTS All-Stars will play a pair of games against the Canadian National Women's Development Team, along with two games against Japan's senior national team.

Last season the five CW players attending the Showcase combined for 31 goals and 58 points during the 2017-18 conference regular season, with Poznikoff the leading scorer among the CW attendees (12G-11A-23P). Tardiff (4G-10A-14P) and Dillon (3G-10A-13P) finished first and second respectively in defencemen scoring last season.

All five players were CW all-stars in 2017-18, with Poznikoff and Tardiff earning first team honours.
