BRANDON – The Brandon Bobcats made quick work of the Manitoba Bisons, picking up a weekend sweep by a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-15) over their provincial counterparts on Saturday.

The Bobcats put the Bisons under tremendous pressure from the service line all night, which allowed Brandon to set up a potent blocking and defensive game.

Sydney Toninato had a career-high five aces and was part of a Bobcats line-up that served effectively all night, registering 10 aces as a team.

The Bobcats trailed briefly to start the second set, but firmly took control going on a 7-1 run that was kick-started with a Mary Thomson service ace. That would be the only time Brandon would trail as the Bobcats ran away with the third set, concluding the match in just over an hour.

Brandon now has five wins in their last six matches and moves to 7-11 in conference play on the season. Most importantly, the sweep of the Bisons moves the 'Cats up the standings and keeps their playoff hopes alive.
Brandon's bench players didn't see the floor at all, as the starting line-up was on for every point.
Nikala Majewski led the offence for the second straight night, registering 12 kills and added two aces of her own.
Gillian Leech was spectacular on defence again as well, picking up 15 digs. Mary Thomson had 25 assists to go with six digs and an ace.
Sarah Klassen led the offensive charge for the Bisons, finishing with eight kills while Cassie Bujan had 12 digs.
The Bisons now sit with a record of 6-12 in conference play. Manitoba will welcome the Thompson Rivers WolfPack to Winnipeg for a pair of matches next weekend.

Up next for Brandon is a weekend road trip to Langley to take on the Trinity Western Spartans who have already clinched a playoff spot. The matches on Friday and Saturday can be seen on
