Men’s third star – Chris Collins
Calgary Dinos hockey
Game log: Friday, Feb. 2 – three assists, plus-five rating in 7-0 W at Regina / Saturday, Feb. 3 – two power play goals, including game-winner, in 4-3 W at Regina.
Chasing the final playoff spot in Canada West, the University of Calgary Dinos got some much-needed support from a familiar source.
Fifth-year forward Chris Collins, tied for the team-lead with 25 points, setup three goals and was on the ice for two more, as part of a 7-0 Dinos win over the Regina Cougars on Friday night.
In a much closer affair on Saturday, Collins had a huge impact on the game, notching both the game-tying and game-winning goals. The tying goal came with under a minute left in the second period, while the winner came mid-way through the final frame in a 4-3 Calgary victory.
Collins’ five-point weekend has helped the Dinos build a four-point cushion on the Lethbridge Pronghorns for sixth in the Canada West standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Calgary will wrap up their schedule with home games versus the Manitoba Bisons, Feb. 9-10.
