Fifth-year forward Seina Kashima had four points (2G-2A) over the weekend, as the No. 3 Trinity Western Spartans swept the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades.
The Burnaby, B.C. native scored once and had one assist in the Spartans 3-1 home win over the UFV Cascades in Langley, B.C. on Friday evening. Then on Sunday afternoon in Abbotsford, B.C., Kashima added another assist and scored the game-winning goal in TWU’s 3-2 win.
With her weekend performance, Kashima now sits atop the Canada West leader board in points (16), and assists (9). She also continues to extend her Canada West career record for total assists, which currently sits at 36.
Kashima’s nine assists on the season move her into a tie for seventh spot for the most in a single Canada West season. With four regular season games remaining, she sits two assists off the Canada West single-season record of 11.
Her four-point weekend also moved her into sixth place on the all-time Canada West points list with 54, and one point off the TWU record of 55 held by Krista Gommeringer.
Trinity Western sits atop the Canada West Pacific Division in Canada West with a 9-1-0 record.
The Spartans are back in action this weekend at home, facing the Alberta Pandas on Friday, before a Saturday matchup with the Mount Royal Cougars.

The Burnaby native scored once and had three assists in the Spartans 6-0 win over Thompson Rivers in Kamloops, B.C. on Saturday afternoon. Then on Sunday afternoon in Kelowna, B.C., Kashima added an assist on the game-winning goal in TWU’s 3-0 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat.
With her weekend performance, Kashima now sits atop the Canada West leaderboard with 12 points on the season. She also continues to extend her Canada West career record for total assists, which currently sits at 35. Her five-point weekend moves her into ninth place on the all-time Canada West points list with 50.
The Spartans sit atop the Pacific Division in Canada West with a 7-1-0 record.
TWU is back in action this weekend when they play a home-and-home series against the Fraser Valley Cascades. The first match is Friday, October 5 at TWU, with the second match going in Abbotsford on Sunday, October 7.

Game log: Friday, Sept. 29 – two shots in 4-0 W vs. UBCO / Saturday, Sept. 30 – two goals and an assist in 5-0 W vs. Thompson Rivers.
Spartans fourth-year striker Seina Kashima helped lead Trinity Western to a pair of home wins over UBC Okanagan (4-0) and Thompson Rivers (5-0) thanks to back-to-back strong performances that included a three-point (2G, 1A) night against the WolfPack.
With her 22nd career conference assist, Kashima moved into the top five in the Canada West record books for all-time assists. She is now tied with alum Krista Gommeringer for the TWU all-time career assists mark. Kashima, who played 60 minutes against the Heat before a 73-mintue effort against TRU, was also part of a strong team defence that earned the Spartans their fifth consecutive clean sheet. TWU has now gone 466 minutes without conceding a goal.
The weekend victories improved TWU’s record to 6-2-0. The Spartans will now prepare to play Fraser Valley in a home-and-home series starting Friday in Langley, B.C. before the rematch Saturday in Abbotsford, B.C.
