BUCKLEY, BUTCHER NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA COLLEGE DIVISION FOOTBALL TEAM

AUSTIN, Texas –Quarterback AndrewBuckley of the University of Calgary andoffensive linemen Joshua Butcher of theUniversity of Saskatchewan were named to the 2014 Capital OneAcademic All-America® College Division Football Team asselected by the College Sports Information Directors of America(CoSIDA).

The Capital One Academic All-America® College Divisionfootball team includes student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian andtwo-year institutions.

Buckley is making his second consecutive appearance on the team.The senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has a 3.83 G.P.A.studying kinesiology. Buckley piloted one of the most prolificoffenses ever seen in Canada West Universities AthleticAssociation, throwing for 2,788 yards and 23 touchdowns. Hecompleted 181 passes in 276 attempts for a 65.6 percent completionpercentage while giving up only eight interceptions. On the ground,Buckley ran for 583 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Canada West named Buckley its most outstanding player bybestowing upon him the Frank Gnup Memorial Trophy. The conferencealso gave Buckley its student-athlete community serviceaward.

Butcher entered the College of Medicine in 2014 with a 4.00 GPAfrom the College of Kinesiology. In 2014, he played in eightregular season contests and one playoff game on the offensive line,starting three at centre. During his two years in Kinesiology, theEdmonton native won the Second Year Book Prize and was on theDean’s List both years. He was also a Huskie Athletics FirstTeam All-Academic and a CIS Academic All-Canadian.
